586 is a velvet tapestry with an arrangement of all 586 needles, syringes and lancets used from in-vitro fertilization (IVF) to the recent birth of the couple’s son in Fall 2017. The items were counted and documented via darkroom photograms. The photograms were then scanned and arranged digitally and printed on velvet. They were printed on fabric to simulate a baby blanket, a common keepsake gift given at birth. This tapestry is part of the series Just Relax, a group of artworks exploring infertility and pregnancy loss.
