Paid For By… is an in-progress sound installation that consists of an audio piece playing through speakers positioned on a defunct campaign rally stage. The installation will consist of a decorated podium, lectern, wall of curtains, and flanked flags. The audio piece is a compilation of 174 SuperPAC ad disclaimers from 106 SuperPACS that represent both sides of the political aisle. I would like to work with a composer and sound editor to bring more fluidity to the sound piece moving forward. Many of the appropriated sound clips include some of the sound effects and music from the original ad that were not removed due to overlap with the disclaimer. I think that working with professionals in transitioning and sparse-yet-strategic background music can make this sound piece feel more agreeable to the ear while maintaining the intentionally jarring aspects of the audio.
